Let BFF Tutoring provide the optimal method to benchmark your child's starting point and identify their strengths and needs with our diagnostic mock test.

While BFF Tutoring administers diagnostic, mock SSAT simulations throughout the year, we recommend that students participate in the simulation in the Spring before their application year. Parents will receive a written, data-driven analysis of their child's performance, along with a prescription for the summer months to set up for the most productive Fall prep season.
Live and remote options available. Early registration is encouraged as space is limited.

Diagnostic Mock SSAT

Quantitative
50 questions in two sections:
-
30 minutes for each section of 25 questions

This could be difficult for students because:
-
There's an extensive amount of material covered, much of it beyond student's current grade level.
-
Questions do not state the mathematical operation that needs to be performed.
-
Formulas are not provided and calculators are not permitted.

Verbal
Vocabulary and Analogies:
-
60 questions: 30 minutes
-
30 synonyms and 30 analogies
-
Designed to measure your student’s vocabulary, verbal reasoning, and ability to relate ideas logically.
This could be difficult for students because:
-
Your student may not have experience solving analogies.
-
Many words are challenging and out of contex

Writing Sample
Students are provided 25 minutes to create a writing sample:
-
Middle Level will have a choice between a creative "story starter" and a personal essay prompt
-
Upper Level will choose between one personal and one general essay prompt.
-
The writing sample is unscored

Reading Comprehension
-
One section of 40 questions (40 minutes)
-
About 7-8 passages
This could be difficult for students because:

Students are exposed to several types of reading passages that are oftentimes esoteric

The paragraphs are often jam-packed with details and challenging vocabulary words
-
Fiction and poetry selections may be
beyond your student's reading level
-
Students are expected to infer, draw conclusions and evaluate evidence
